The Montgomery County Department of Police issued a fresh alert on Thursday as they continue to search for the vandals who tagged a bridge under Josiah Henson Parkway late last month.
On Aug. 27, officers found orange spray paint reading, “Club Aryan Excellent” with a black Swastika in an orange outline and a palm tree painted on the wall under the Josiah Henson Parkway pedestrian tunnel, officials said.
Nearly four weeks later, the department is still seeking the public's assistance in tracking down the elusive taggers who delivered the hate-based message.
At the time the vandalism was found by officers, local officials were quick to speak out against whomever was responsible.
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich said that he was "dismayed" to learn of the anti-Semitic graffiti, and instructed the Department of Transportation to make it a top priority to quickly clean it up.
He said that it is "a reminder that our work to foster an inclusive environment is ongoing.
"In the face of hatred, we choose love ... In the face of division, we choose unity ... And in the face of ignorance, we choose education."
